Chili bust

So today was a bust on our venture to find our own signature chili recipe. Jordan has been obsessed with making a pot of chili ever since we watched the national chili cook off on the Food Network. He had mentioned it last year when we watched the show and then it came up again this year. I think the conversation went something like this...

"Why didn't you let me make my own chili last year when we talked about it after the show" J
"Ummm because you never brought it up again" Me
"Why do you hate chili" J
"I never said that" M
"Well we should finally do it" J
"Ok, just tell me what you want to put in it"M

Almost a month later we finally bought ingredients to our first pot of the "Owen's Famous Chili". But unfortunately, it didn't turn out to be famous. It was good don't get me wrong, but it wasn't AMAZING, tell your friends they have to have it, slap yo momma its so good chili. HAHAHA can't believe I just said that, but it was too funny to backspace...Any way, we also learned that the spices are a lot harder to find than we thought. Jordan bought dried chilies and I thought...ooo I will just use my microplane grater and it will be great! Well the micro plane worked for the first couple passes and then it just shredded the chili and didn't want to grate. For next time we will get a coffee grinder (Dad's idea) to chop up the chilies.

I will have to keep you all updated as we seek to find our own favorite recipe. And I might possibly share it once we do....or maybe it will become a secret recipe :)
